Trader Joe's

Joe's is no ordinary grocery store, it's a cultural experience. A stroll down Joe's aisles reveals products that are distinct from those sold in traditional supermarkets. They do not carry national brands, but rather a variety of food and beverage products from all around the world. Products include wine, cheese, produce, ready-to-prepare foods, frozen foods, healthcare selections, and ethnic choices, 80% of which are marketed under their private labels: Trader Joe's "regular products", Trader Giotto's "Italian food", Trader Ming's "Chinese food", Trader Joe-San "Japanese food", Arabian Joe's "Middle Eastern food", Trader Jose's "Mexican food", Trader Jacques' "imported French foods, soaps, & candy", Joe's Diner "a variety of frozen foods", Joe's Kids "children food", Pilgrim Joe's "Fall items", Baker Josef's "bread, bakery, & baking goods", Josephs Brau "beer", and Trader Darwin's "health supplements & vitamins". Most items are offered at low prices but are considered to be of high quality, both in terms of healthfulness and taste.

To stimulate customer interest, Joe's focuses on a constantly changing product mix of unique foods. In doing so, they keep the experience of the store fresh and original. Products are often moved to different locations within the store to make room for weekly new items and displays; most Joe's locations average between only 8,000 and 12,000 sq ft. Employees may work after hours rearranging Joe's locations to accommodate the new displays and items. This continuous rotation of unique food and beverage products creates a sense of adventure for customers who look forward to the new items their local Trader location has to offer.

Trader Joe's Substitutions:

Frequent Joe's shoppers are well aware that products they love and have come to rely upon can disappear from Joe's locations without warning. New items are continuously brought in as others are phased out. Some Trader products are seasonal, which may cause them to go in and out of stock. Different locations may carry different items, and in some cases Joe's will discontinue carrying a particular product or ingredient completely. If this happens one could easily substitute a recipe ingredient with a similar product from Joe's or with a comparable product found at one's local specialty or grocery store.

Trader Joe's is nothing like any other store and it's why we dedicate this site to making delicious recipes using the finest high quality ingredient foods they have to offer. We hope that with a little bit of planning from our site, you can make a list to take with you to Joe's, and be able to create a variety of healthy meals that you and your entire family will enjoy.

Chicken Meatball Sub

Chicken Meatball Sub

by Trader Joes Recipes on January 8, 2012

Chicken Meatball Sub – This is a healthy twist on one of my favorites, the meatball sub. Ground chicken instead of beef makes this a delicious but healthy alternative to the classic meatball sub. This recipe can easily be altered to your desire by substituting the mozzarella with your favorite Trader Joe's cheese or by using Trader Joe's Italian, beef, turkey, or meatless meatballs.

Cauliflower has a reputation for being bland and boring. However, if you spice it right, it can become a delicious vegetarian dish, and a kid friendly way of sneaking vegetables into your child's diet.
